Hello everyone, I am Henry.
Reflecting on my recent trip to Dubai in early June, I decided to write what you might call a "flex" post. Yes, you read that right. I rarely do this, but I couldn't resist sharing because the value I got out of this trip—from accommodation to flights—was almost unbelievably good. So, let’s have an open chat. I’ll share my travel experiences from these past couple of days in Dubai.
As for the actual business negotiations and what we accomplished, that is a story for a future update. Today is purely about sharing the travel experience and enjoying a light read.
Exceptional Value at a Four Seasons Suite
I know that when people hear "Four Seasons suite" and "Dubai" in the same sentence, they immediately picture an astronomical price tag. But I have to tell you, compared to the general market rates for luxury hotels in Dubai right now, the rate I secured was an absolute bargain. I won't specify the exact number, but if you compare the current hotel rates across the city, you will understand what I mean by exceptional value. It was a highly cost-effective booking.
I spent an entire day working from this suite, hosting numerous meetings. Let me describe the layout: upon entering, there is a beautifully crafted artisan-style workspace, which served as my base for two days of back-to-back discussions. For me, having a quiet, respectable space to negotiate and comfortably host clients is crucial.
This suite met all my working and hospitality needs perfectly. Conducting multiple meetings in one single space maximized my efficiency. When you can stay comfortably, conduct business smoothly, and do it all at such a great price, how could I not be pleased?
A Pleasant Surprise with Emirates Business Class
Moving on to transportation, I think my flight experience is also worth highlighting because, once again, I found incredible value.

For this trip, I flew Emirates Business Class. Those who know my travel habits might find this surprising, as I rarely book Emirates. It is not that their service is lacking, but I historically felt that carriers like Emirates and Singapore Airlines carried an unnecessary premium. Operating primarily out of Hong Kong, I typically fly Cathay Pacific—partly out of habit, and partly to support the local aviation hub.
However, the circumstances were different this time. Due to recent geopolitical dynamics affecting regional airspace, viable flight options were limited, leaving Emirates as one of the few practical choices. Surprisingly, the fare was exceptionally reasonable—significantly lower than what I had come to expect from them in the past. Given the limited options and the attractive pricing, I booked it without hesitation.
The experience certainly did not disappoint. Emirates is renowned for its meticulously attentive service, and this Business Class journey lived up to that reputation. It was a highly comfortable flight, and I landed feeling completely refreshed and ready to work.
Unlocking a New Perk: Complimentary Chauffeur Service
The biggest surprise of the trip, however, was unlocking a "new skill."
I genuinely did not know that Emirates Business Class included complimentary chauffeur-drive services—up to four individual transfers for a round trip. I could have arranged a pickup from my home in Hong Kong to the airport, and then another pickup upon arriving in Dubai. That makes two transfers each way, totaling four.
I chose not to use the service in Hong Kong; arranging my own transport locally is easy, and I didn't feel the need for it. But I did use the service in Dubai, and the experience was seamless. Emirates operates with impressive scale and resources in the Middle East. Upon exiting the airport, a luxury BMW was waiting to take me directly to the Four Seasons. For my return trip at midnight, the chauffeur arrived right on time to take me back to the airport. The entire process was incredibly convenient, smooth, and comfortable.
To be honest, I had no idea this service was included in the fare. It felt like discovering a hidden gem. So, I am sharing this tip: if you fly Emirates Business Class, do not let this chauffeur benefit go to waste like I previously did!
Zero Signs of an Economic Downturn in Dubai
Beyond the lighthearted bragging about maximizing value on premium travel, I want to share a deeper observation.
While minimizing travel costs is great, what truly impacted me was the sheer vitality of the city itself. Spending my first day navigating Dubai for meetings, I was struck by the bustling crowds. This was not an artificial busyness; it was a tangible, energetic vitality.
People often ask me, "Henry, why do you travel to Dubai so frequently?"
In the past, I might have paused to formulate an answer. But after this trip, the answer is crystal clear. When you observe the people here and see the drive and effort they put into their work, you see absolutely zero signs of economic stagnation.
I mean this sincerely: beyond the cost efficiencies, you are looking at an environment actively incubating opportunity. In a place brimming with vitality, where everyone is pushing forward, opportunities naturally emerge. Being immersed in that environment shifts your own mindset, strategies, and judgment. That atmosphere of growth is a real, visceral experience that no economic data chart can fully capture.
So, if you ask me if this trip was worth it? My answer is: absolutely.
Final Thoughts
This post was meant to be a relaxed sharing of my travel experiences—a little bit of executive travel "flexing" for fun.
But the reality is, I had many substantive discussions during this trip and gained valuable new insights. I look forward to sharing more of those concrete business takeaways and industry opportunities from Dubai in my upcoming posts.
That is all for today. Thank you for reading, and we will talk again soon.
