HK General Employment Policy (GEP)

GEPs are for individuals who wish to enter or stay in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) for employment as professionals. Applicants who possess special skills, knowledge or experience of value to and not readily available in the HKSAR may apply to come to work under the GEP. The GEP is quota-free and non-sector specific.

 

However, this entry arrangement does not apply to:
a. Chinese residents of the Mainland; and
b. nationals of Afghanistan, Cuba, Laos, Korea (Democratic People’s Republic of), Nepal and Vietnam.

Time to permit

2-4 months (processing speed depends on Immigration Department of Hong Kong)

Application Requirement

1. College diploma + 10 years of real work experience; Bachelor’s degree or above + 5 years of real work experience

2. The applicant is working as an executive/shareholder/professional technician in a company outside Hong Kong and can provide proof of work
3. The applicant’s past work background is relevant to the industry of the Hong Kong company.


For Hong Kong Sponsoring Company as Follow:
1. The company has been operating for over 24 months with annual turnover of more than HKD3,000,000, and has paid the mandatory provident fund for at least 2 employers
2. The company must have an office with business and partners under contact in Hong Kong, supported by relevant materials.
