UK Self-employed Visa

The applicant’s non-UK company went to the UK to open a subsidiary due to business needs, and sent the applicant to apply for an expansion worker visa to operate the subsidiary in the UK. The applicant has been operating the company in the UK for more than half a year with the expansion worker visa, and can be converted into a subsidiary if certain operational requirements are met. The skilled worker visa holder can transfer to permanent residence after working in the UK for 5 years and meeting the residence requirements.

Applicant requirements

  1. 18 years or older (Applicants can bring their spouse and children under 18 years old)
  2. IELTS 4.0 points (Not required when applying for an expansion worker visa but it will be required when changing to the skilled worker visa)
  3. The applicant has worked for the parent company for more than 1 year or has an annual salary of £73,900
  4. The parent company has been established for more than 3 years and has a turnover of RMB 5 millions

To be eligible to apply as a partner, both the applicant and his/her partner must meet the following criteria:
1.Both people must be at least 18 years of age.

2.The applicant’s partner must either be a British or Irish citizen or have settled status in the UK.

3.The applicant and his/her partner must be in a legally recognized civil partnership or marriage in the UK, or have been living together in a committed relationship for a minimum of 2 years at the time of application.
Alternatively, if the applicant is a fiancé, fiancée, or proposed civil partner, he/she must intend to marry or enter into a civil partnership in the UK within 6 months of his/her arrival.

4. The applicant is required to demonstrate proficiency in the English language.

5.The combined income of the applicant and his/her partner must be at least £18,600 per year.

—— 10-Year UK Residency Applicants:

They cannot spend more than 184 days outside the UK in a single absence.

Notably, time spent in the UK under temporary visas, such as visitor visas, cannot be counted within the 10-year residency requirement.
