Future Development Trends of Vanuatu’s Citizenship by Investment Program

The Prime Minister noted that the program has been in place since 2015, supported by legislation and stable citizenship policies, attracting a significant number of applicants in the market. Vanuatu has also welcomed applicants from around the world, allowing them to use this status in a reasonable, compliant, and legal manner. Globevisa shared numerous successful cases in assisting those who have obtained this status in asset, education, and identity planning. The Prime Minister expressed hope that the program would further contribute to the overall economic development of Vanuatu and that more people would come to understand and love this warm and joyful country.

Future Development of Vanuatu’s Permanent Resident Program

The Prime Minister mentioned that the program, launched over a decade ago, has relatively stable policies. Initially designed to complement Hong Kong’s investment projects, it set a low threshold, focusing on convenience and practicality. With Hong Kong reopening its policies, considering the significant volume of applications from Hong Kong, there will be no major changes to the application conditions in the short term. However, increasing the processing fees will be a central theme of future developments.

●Permanent Resident/Green Card Program

Costing less than 12,000 USD, this program offers direct access to permanent residence without the need for business investment or the applicant’s presence in Vanuatu. There are no stringent residence requirements post-approval, providing a more convenient route to overseas residency. The Vanuatu green card is widely used in various scenarios to meet the needs of diverse applicants:

– Popular option for applying the new Hong Kong Capital Investment Entrant Scheme with a “Third Country” permanent residence, recognized by immigration authorities for its simplicity and efficiency, favored by high-net-worth individuals.

– Used for admission to international schools in China, where such schools often require children to have at least a foreign green card; Vanuatu green card is noted for its affordability and speed, attracting considerable attention from parents.

– Provides a backup identity and facilitates travel, offering a Plan B status in emergencies, including travel and residence in Vanuatu.

– Serves as a stepping stone to Australia and New Zealand, where obtaining citizenship is more challenging; the Vanuatu green card, as the only direct legal residence option in the neighboring region, has become an excellent alternative for those seeking to immigrate to Australia and New Zealand.
