Montenegro Citizenship by Investment Program (CIP) ’s first application was proved to be submitted by Globevisa Group’s cooperated law firm on October 3rd, 2019, according to IMIDAILY, an immigration news platform. It is believed that the first application will lead the way for worldwide investors who are also interested in obtaining the passport of this EU candidate country.
Montenegro Citizenship by Investment Program (CIP) has attracted attention from high-net-worth individuals and potential immigrants around the globe since its launch. Though Turkey, another country that may join the European Union, also offers citizenship by investment program, Montenegro’s CIP stands out with its higher likelihood to the EU membership. According to the EU Commission, Montenegro can have full EU membership in 2025.
Moreover, compared with those provided by EU countries Malta and Cyprus, Montenegro’s CIP is much less pricey. To obtain a Montenegro passport, applicants are only required to make a contribution of EUR 100,000 to the government and invest EUR 250,000 in designated real estate project. If Montenegro does become an EU member state, such a low investment amount will make Montenegro passport the cheapest EU passport.
The Montenegro passport grants its holders visa-free entry to 122 countries and regions, including Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR, Singapore, and all Schengen countries. Though the number itself seems not attractive enough, major countries and regions have already been covered.
