Montenegro Citizenship by Investment Program (CIP) is expected to receive its first batch of applications by the end of 2019, after the first approved real estate investment option has finally been selected. As a strong candidate for EU membership, the country is likely to be a newly acceded immigration destination among global investors.
First launched in October 2018, Montenegro Citizenship by Investment Program has been drawing attention around the globe. The key reason for the worldwide interest is believed to be the possible EU membership in the near future.
According to European Commission, Montenegro will become a member state of European Union in 2025. Therefore, it is convinced that passports obtained through Montenegro Citizenship by Investment Program will grant its owners EU citizenship and corresponding benefits.
Compared with other candidates for EU membership that also offer citizenship by investment programs, Montenegro CIP stands out in terms of its passport’s mobility. In addition to all Schengen countries, holders of Montenegro passport are also granted visa-free entry to Hong Kong SAR, Singapore and South Korea, which is not enjoyed by Moldova passport holders.
The CIP program is only open for three years, and the quota set for applications under its first real estate investment option is 240. The immigration industry has already seen increasing enquiries about this limited offer.
